A Turner machinist III performs mainly routine duties in manufacturing sites with some limited autonomy in defined contexts and within established parameters. A competent worker is expected to have basic job specific knowledge and skills to observe safety for self and others in the workplace in the workshop, correctly use of tools and equipment, interpret working drawings correctly, perform bench work activities carry out measurements, fabricate and assemble parts, do drilling work operate grinder and lathe machine appropriately for production in manufacturing industries as outlined in the Qualification Pack (QP) and National Occupational Standards(NOS). The training shall be offered as per the level descriptors of KNQF Level 2 leading to the award of National Skills Certificate (NSC) I. The training is intended to facilitate acquisition of skills, knowledge and attitudes to enable the trainee work in both formal and informal employment and to empower the worker to pursue further training in related disciplines.
